Halloween Goodies Galore!

Just a quick peek at the take from last weekend's Howl'oween festival sponsored by Animal Compassion Network. Lady and Lucky scored big time at the trick or treat booths - yummy cookies at one booth, dog toys at another! One booth was even giving out doggie granola bars for hiking trips. I'd never heard of such a thing! Even though Lady got overstimulated by all the excitement and had to go back to the truck, we picked up treats for her too.

"Can I have one now?"
This was a fun event for people and pets alike. The Adoptathon held during the festival was a big success as well, with many of the dogs recently pulled from the shelter finding new homes that day. I have to include two photo "outtakes" that occurred as I was trying to photograph the goodies. You can't do anything in this house without the cat getting involved. Nosy little kitty. Lucy wanted to know where her treats were.

"Did you forget something? I don't see the kitty treats."

  3. Lucy is hilarious. With her little white mustache she looks so serious. I love that expression on her face. It is accusatory at the same time as being resigned "of course, the dogs always get everything."

  6. That looked like so much fun!! So glad some of the dogs needing a home found one! Good luck to all of them.

To answer a question you posed in my comments.. the photo of Halle in the snow was taken last November as part of a photo shoot of pictures of Halle I had done and made into a book for my mom (her former owner). I just love that picture. David Jensen, the photographer, also does a lot of pet portraits of dogs needing homes up here in AK (in addition to the paying clients). Actually that is how I found David many years ago. He did a photo shoot for pets and their people and donated part of the fee to our local Friends of Pets. You should check out his website David Jensen Photography. Wonderful work!

  7. Those granola bars!! I hadn't heard of them either ... but when I gave one to my Lucky, he nearly ran me over to get it! He usually has better manners then that! It's better than a $7 Buffalo Ring!

Give Katie, Lucky, Lady & Lucy a big hug for me! It was so good to see you at the Adoptathon!
